Just a quick note to let you know that we are in the final stages of the website rewrite to make things easier to read through. We also will be updating the site with the form from where artists and vendors can register to exhibit.

We are back from Magfest this weekend and wanted to thank you all for purchasing all of our squeaky owls. Many of you registered as well. Meeting you and talking with you really inspires us to make this con even better every year. Thank you!

Travis Surber, creator of the webcomic Hainted Holler, will be debuting his second collection of strips, Hainted Holler 2:Redneck Boonaloo at the event. Check out his table in the Vendor Room to get a copy.

Studio Unseen, the team behind the webcomic Sledge Bunny will be launching their own sculpted armadillo characters at the event–they were sculpted by one of our other Vendor Room artists Kelsey Wailes (eattoast), who has already been written up for her incredible work on io9.

Peej and Bengie, the team behind the new comic Slackjaw will be having their official launch party at Intervention 2011 on Saturday September 17th at 7pm in Panel room 1. They are also running our famous Interfection LARP as well, so expect both hijinks and horror.

Bree Rubin, from Nerd comics, has also let us know that she will be launching their new compilation “Washington” at the event, and may have a, *ahem*, “small”, *cough*, room party to celebrate it at some point during the weekend. You’ll want to catch her in the Vendor Room for more details.

Fine, alright, we give in. We’ve got even more stuff being added to the event or updated:

We’ve added a new musical act to our Saturday lineup: Mark Aaron James. NYC based singer/songwriter Mark Aaron James was a winner in the USA Songwriting and UNISONG Songwriting Competitions and was twice voted the Best Singer/Songwriter in Greenwich Village by the Underground Music Organization. Check out the video for his song Aquaman’s Lament:

We’ve received some comics from actionfigurekingdom.com to give away for our Children’s Programming. Check out their selection of comics online–they’re neat, you can even color them yourself!

We’ve also updated our contest page with contest details (for high value items) and how you can enter to win. You’ll still have random chances to win other things just checking in at registration, wandering the halls, being in panels, watching videos, or breathing.

Thank you to Popchips for their generous contribution of 20 cases of PopChips. We will be giving PopChips out as long as supplies last this weekend.

I contacted PopChips because I am a health nut and they were already my favorite snack. I buy them every week when I go shopping. They taste just as good at potato chips, but don’t have many calories or bad things in them. If you’ve never tried them before, you will get your chance this weekend! My favorites are BBQ and Original Potato.

We want to thank Shy, all of our other Enablers, and the attendees of Intervention 2011 for helping us get Intervention 2011 up and running–see you all this weekend!

For instance, check out this incredible limited edition poster that our publication head Chris Impink created:

The 13 x 19 inch poster will be given out to people who have purchased Enabler Level 2 and above and will be at the Intervention Merchandise table in the Vendor Room. Remember to get it signed by all of our guests!

We are also excited to have “Portfolio Review” workshops as part of our schedule this year. For a few hours each day of the event a selection of our guests and artists will be available to talk one on one with attendees and help review your work and provide feedback. Please look at the schedule for the “Workshop Room” section for the times for each day when this is available.

Along these lines, we also have a very special workshop scheduled for Friday night (September 16th). Starting at 10pm in the Workshop Room (right after her appearance at 9pm on the “Dating Advice for Nerds” panel in the Large Panels room), E. Foley of GeeksDreamGirl.com will bring her online dating expertise to Intervention. Stop in and ask her questions and get feedback on how to hook up your online dating profile. Her open workshop will last until midnight.

We strongly suggest you peer through the schedule, con book, and website to see the many great events at Intervention 2011. You’ll want to bring your sneakers, a lot of running will be required :)
