Intervention is a creator-focused Internet Convention started by webcomic creator / illustrator Onezumi Hartstein and web developer James Harknell. Read more about them here.

“Hi all – this is Oni. I want to tell you a little bit about our convention.

Our goal is to bring together fans and different independent creators to party, educate, and appreciate the opportunities the Internet gives to all of us. We are similar to the Sci-Fi/Anime/Other fandom cons that we love so much, but we are focused on people who use the internet as the primary way to distribute their work and talk to their friends.

Why am I taking on the daunting task of creating an entire convention? I’m doing it because I am an independent creator myself; I know how hard it can be and I know how awesome it can be. I wanted to create a place where people like me can have fun and new people who may be unsure of their path can find friendly help and encouragement. I remember all of the people who helped me on my way when I first started. My life would be really pointless if I didn’t try to give back to the scene as much as I possibly can.

Do you read webcomics? Do you write fanfic? Are you a gamer? Do you put things on YouTube or hang out in an online secret club for Furry Pirates? Do you think that Tom Baker was the best Doctor? This is the place for you.

If you are a creator, you are welcome here.

Do you draw a webcomic, keep a blog, make a podcast, design websites, or market your stuff via social media? Are you an independant performer or do you make some great art or crafts that you sell online? This is the place for you.

Intervention will have both fun programming for fans and educational programming for creators. We are allowing the fans and creators to help us design the programming, so you can bet it’s going to be amazing!

We’ll also have have dance parties, art jams, and other special events in addition to a massive 75 table Artist’s Alley/Vendor Room.

Over 30 webcomic and New Media experts will attend as guest speakers. If you are a part of the scene and you use the internet to do something really cool, this is the place for you. We care about what you have to say, and we want to hear from you so that we can make this con the best convention on the planet. ”
