Q: What is Intervention? What’s with the name?
A: Our name is the combination of the words “Internet” and “Convention” but the significance is deeper than that. The core mission of this event is to Intervene and Inspire everyone who participates. With us you can come meet the creators, actors, developers, and producers of your favorite works and also learn about the process of how it’s all made. Our Creator’s Track within the con is all about mentoring people into fandom industries and many of our guest participate as mentors. It’s a 3 day fandom celebration with a heart toward helping the community.

Q: When Does the Con Start and End?
A: Intervention 7 starts at Noon on Friday September 16 2016 and ends at 4pm on Sunday September 18th.
Q: What are the Exhibition Hall Hours?
A: Friday: 2pm to 8pm
Saturday: 10am to 7pm
Sunday: 10am to 3pm
Q: How big is Intervention?
A: Intervention has ranged from a bit over 500 for our first year, up to around 900 people in other years. We expect to be over 1000 people this year. Our cap is around 1500 for the venue.

Q: Should I book a room at the hotel?
A: Yes – the con’s after parties are awesome and if you stay with us you’ll get a better experience. We have the super-low room rate of $99/night at our event venue the Hilton Rockville (hotel registration link coming soon) in Rockville MD.
Q: Are there different Vendor Room/Artist Alley/Dealers Room locations at Intervention 7? How Do I apply to be in the room?
A: We will be trying out a new system for Intervention 7. We will have both an Exhibitor Hall, where your table is locked and secured at night and has definitive open/closed hours, and an Creator Space, which is located in the hallways of the event space and will be open during the entire weekend. If you want to be in the Exhibitors Hall you can apply here when the form is available. If you want to be a part of the Creator Space, you can find details on that here.
Q: Are you making money from this? Why are you holding this event?
A: Intervention is not a for-profit convention. We are run by a volunteer staff. We aren’t doing this to make money – we are doing this because we feel strongly about supporting the fan community, offering the best cost we can reasonably set, and throwing the best party in the northeast.
Q: Are you just for visual artists?
A: Absolutely not. If you are a fan of Sci Fi, Fantasy, Anime, and Pop Culture, this con is for you. Our Creator’s Track features visual artists, webcomics, and all fan creativity. All creators are welcome and encouraged to contact us. Yes, your podcast about snails in spacesuits is welcome here. :)
Q: What makes you different from other cons?
A: We are an event that emphasizes fun, creativity, and attendee interaction with the celebrities. While we bring guests that you’ll want to talk to, get autographs from, and get a photo with–you’ll also have the opportunity to speak to them in an informal setting and find out *how* they do their work. We also emphasize a friendly atmosphere where creators can network, and new creators can learn from each other and the special guests we bring. Fans are also encouraged to get involved in the creation of the programming.
Q: When was the first Intervention?
A: The first Intervention was held in 2010. 2016 is our seventh year and we will be a yearly for the foreseeable future.
