Intervention at Otakon this weekend

Intervention will be at Otakon this weekend. Both Onezumi and I will be around (we’re actually not sure if we will have our own table or be part of the T-Mode table in the Artist Alley) to answer questions, sign up pre-registrations (at our special at-con rate of $35), and be generally wacky as usual.

Guest Spotlight: Kara Dennison (In Her Own Words)

To help you guys get a feeling for what you’re in for when you come to Intervention, we’ve asked some of our guests to provide some answers to a short interview. Kara Dennison, the artist and creator of the comics at ConScrew.com, has provided her answers in audio form.

These are the questions:

To keep things straight here, what is your name and what is the name of your comic?

What do you like people to actually call you when they meet you?

Besides slaving away and drawing/writing for our enjoyment, what do you like to do for fun? (you know when you’re not working at all on the comic?)

Do you read any other author’s comics online? In print? Which ones are regular reads for you? If not any, then what DO you waste time on online?

Do you do anything not online? You know, like…outside?

Who’s your daddy?

There are a lot of reasons why people start their own project, but what has kept you going?

What’s one of your favorite parts about being a webcomic author?

When are you putting me in your webcomic? No, kidding, kidding.

Do you listen to music or watch tv while you’re working? What sort and if it’s something else, what do you prefer? Or is there something you just can’t get around (say, if you have the soothing sounds of 6 rampaging children playing behind you in the same room)?

Tell us about the worst job you’ve had to do to get by in the past. (does it make you grateful for doing what you do now?)

When you’re in an interview or a panel, what makes you cringe? Is there any question that you dread hearing or is there something that you hope doesn’t come up?

What do you WISH someone would bring up or ask you on panels or an interview that just never comes up?

Actually, no really, when are you putting me in your webcomic?

For posterity, what’s your favorite beverage?

Will you buy ME a drink?

and here’s her answers:

Kara Dennison’s Interview

“Harvey Putter and the Ridiculous Premise” Movie Showing At Intervention

We are happy to announce that we will be showing the new parody film “Harvey Putter and the Ridiculous Premise” at Intervention this year. The film, which just made it’s world premiere on July 20th, was produced by award-winning filmmakers Tim Richardson and Michael Kouroubetes (Kill the Messenger, The Dork of the Rings). Harvey Putter brings together a highly talented group of actors, artists and filmmaking professionals from across the country, as well as England, Australia and Portugal to make light of the Harry Potter series of books and movies.

We’d like to thank Tim and Michael for giving Intervention the opportunity to showcase this new work of independent cinema. Dates and times for showings of the movie will be announced as we get closer to our event date.

UPDATED: Upcoming Interview

This Sunday (July 25th) on the TGT Podcast, Onezumi and Harknell will be talking about Intervention and the webcomics scene in general. The interview is scheduled to air live at 9pm EST, and be available later for download.

Upcoming Enabler/Sponsorship Deadlines

One of the benefits of being an Enabler or Sponsor for Intervention is recognition of your support. While we can easily post your information on our site and in publicity, we will be hitting a hard date soon for inclusion in our con book. If you’d like to have your name or company in our con book we’d need to have your payment in by August 5th. Of course if you were to be a very high ranking Sponsor or Enabler we could easily print up an addendum to the book as an insert, but generally you’d be best served by being in the book itself.

We also will be ordering the limited edition exclusive Enabler shirts soon, so while we may have some extras in generic sizes made, you might have to wait a bit if we don’t have your size available if you sign up later.

Anyway, we again want to thank all of our Enablers and Sponsors for this year. we really appreciate your support.
